Zondervan Acquires Reverend Wilfredo De Jesus
for Major Trade Book

Zondervan has acquired a new trade book by Reverend Wilfredo (Choco) De Jesús that is set to release in April 2018. De Jesús is senior pastor of New Life Covenant Church, one of the fastest-growing churches in Chicago, and the largest Assemblies of God church in the nation. TIME Magazine named him one of their 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2013, recognized him for his leadership and influence with the evangelical and Latino audiences. De Jesús is represented by Steve and Susan Blount, The Quadrivium Group. Acquired by associate publisher and executive editor of Zondervan, Sandy Vander Zicht.

In the upcoming book, De Jesús encourages readers that God has promised and planned a richer, more abundant life than the one they’re living now. Challenging the American mentality of “more” as money and wealth, De Jesús is clear that “more” is not a reward. Rather, he encourages us that from the beginning, God has planned for us to live in His “more,” the abundant life that walking one step after another in obedience and faithfulness produces.

De Jesus grew up a Puerto Rican kid in a dysfunctional family in inner-city Chicago. He served New Life Covenant Church for over 20 years before he was appointed senior pastor in July 2000. Choosing to stay in the Humboldt Park community where he grew up, De Jesús, his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children, make their home there among the people they serve. Under De Jesús’s leadership, the church has grown from a weekly attendance of 120 to 17,000 globally through church plants and more than 130 ministries reaching the most disenfranchised—the broken hearted, poor, homeless, prostitutes, drug addicts and gang members.
