Uhrichsville, OH— Barbour Publishing is pleased to announce that Brenna Westlake, the courageous four-year-old girl who inspired the upcoming book, A Different Beautiful, has been chosen as the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ 2016–2017 Champion of Illinois.
Every year, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals identifies a child with a remarkable medical story from each state, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. These “Champions” serve as the faces for the millions of children treated at CMN Hospitals every year. Champions and their families travel to Washington, D.C., and Orlando, Florida, on an official Ambassador Tour to highlight the vital work of children’s hospitals.
Brenna is the inspiration behind Shiloh Run Press’s August 2016 title, A Different Beautiful, written by her mother Courtney Westlake. After being born with Harlequin
Ichthyosis, a life-threatening skin disorder, Brenna’s family began to discover a new and different kind of beautiful in their lives—one that values extraordinary differences and appreciates the wonderful sameness found in our humanity. A Different Beautiful explores what the Westlake family has discovered in raising a child with physical differences and what they have learned about true beauty.
