Wooster, Ohio—Weaver Book Company is pleased to announce that EnGendered: God’s Gift of Gender Difference in Relationship by Sam Andreades has won WORLD Magazine’s 2015 Book-of-the-Year award for the Accessible Theology category. EnGendered offers a winsome theology of gender, making a needed contribution to a confused society.
In his former pastorate in New York City while striving to offer helpful counsel to individuals struggling with gender issues, Sam Andreades found himself at a loss. This realization catalyzed a ten-year search for answers to how God directs us in close relationships—and why. This meant getting involved in the messy lives of people he encountered, guided by intense biblical study. Dr. Andreades’ new book is a fruit of that ten-year journey.
Sam Andreades is senior pastor of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Quarryville, Pennsylvania. Previously, he was a pastor for ten and a half years in Greenwich Village, New York City, and is the founder of Higher Ground (originally called GAME: Gender Affirming Ministry Endeavor), a New York City ministry of Christian discipleship serving those with unwanted same-sex attractions. He is a graduate of Yale University (B.S., geology and geophysics), Reformed Theological Seminary (M.Div., pastoral ministry), New York University (M.S., artificial intelligence), and Covenant Theological Seminary (D.Min., urban mission and ministry) where he wrote his dissertation on gender distinction in marriage.
Weaver Book Company was founded in 2013 by Jim Weaver, who previously worked at Baker Publishing Group, Thomas Nelson, and Kregel before embarking on his own. The company has published two dozen books so far by authors such as Warren Wiersbe, Walter Kaiser, Doug Geivett, and Leland Ryken.
The mission of Weaver Book Company is to strengthen the body of Christ and honor the Lord by providing enriching resources for pastors, pastors-in-training, church leaders, and serious lay students of the Bible.
