WaterBrook Multnomah Grieves the Loss
of Beloved Authors Jerry Bridges and Gary Smalley

WaterBrook Multnomah mourns the loss of two outstanding authors and friends in the passing of Jerry Bridges and Gary Smalley, who both died unrelatedly on March 6, 2016.  Jerry Bridges was one of the most widely recognized and trusted Christian writers of the last 50 years and was a conference speaker and Bible teacher. He served as Vice-President for Corporate Affairs of The Navigators and his most popular books included The Pursuit of Holiness (NavPress) and The Joy of Fearing God, both known as timeless classics. The Joy of Fearing God, originally published by WaterBrook in 1998, has more than 100,000 copies in print and was repackaged in February 2016.

Gary Smalley, president and founder of the Smalley Relationship Center, was one of the country’s best known authors and speakers on family relationships. His books have sold more than five million copies and he was awarded the Gold Medallion Award for excellence in Christian literature twice. Multnomah published his books Leaving the Light On and Home Remedies (1991), co-written by John Trent.
