ECPA's Rush To Press

THE SHACK Hits #1 on New York Times, USA Today,
ECPA Bestseller List

Nashville, Tenn (March 7, 2017) – THE SHACK by William P. Young published by Windblown/Hachette Book Group took the number one spot on The New York TimesUSA Today, and ECPA bestseller lists. A bonafide publishing phenomenon, Young’s debut novel has now topped 20 million copies sold, spent more than 50 weeks atop bestseller lists, and has been translated into thirty-four languages.

“We are thrilled that the story of THE SHACK has resonated with so many millions of readers and is now also inspiring movie-goers across the country,” said Rolf Zettersten, Sr. Vice President and Publisher of FaithWords. “The ripple effect surrounding this incredible story and the impact of its message seem to know no bounds, and we are proud to have played a role in that success.”

Originally written by an Oregon salesman as a story for his children, THE SHACK became a runaway bestseller. It is the story of a man whose young daughter is abducted during a family vacation, and who four years later receives a note, apparently from God, inviting him back to the shack where his daughter’s blood had been discovered, The Shack reveals provocative and poignant views of God and his relationship to humanity.

Hachette Book Group and Windblown Media announced in May 2008 a co-publishing venture to bring the phenomenal bestseller to a global readership. Hachette Book Group has since assumed responsibilities for sales, marketing, distribution, licensing, and manufacturing.

A major motion picture based on THE SHACK released on March 3, 2017 by Lionsgate Films and debuted in the third spot at the box office. In it Octavia Spencer stars in the role of “Papa,” and is joined by actors Sam Worthington and Radha Mitchell in leading roles.
