PURCELLVILLE, VA – The Good Book Company is pleased to announce that

The One O’Clock Miracle by Alison Mitchell and Catalina Echeverri has won the 2016 Speaking Volumes Award for the Children’s Book of the Year.

The illustrated hardback retells the story from John 4 where Jesus heals the son of a royal official, at a distance, with a word. The man trusts Jesus’ promise, and returns home — to be met by his servants on the road who tell him that the boy was healed at the precise moment Jesus said the words, at one o’clock the previous day. The book, and the story teach lessons about the power of Jesus, the Son of God, and about how we can trust his word.

Speaking Volumes uses the awards to highlight good-quality, easy-to-understand Christian books. Its Book Awards are voted on by the public.

“When we decided to start The Good Book for Children imprint just two years ago, we wanted to embody all the things we strive to do with our adult publishing. A rigorous faithfulness to the Bible, attractive and winsome writing, coupled with first class design and illustration. Winning this award shows that we are on the right track for the future,” commented Tim Thornborough, Publishing Director, The Good Book Company.

“Voting was brisk as ever this year, which we take as a sign of people’s continuing love affair with good books. Our very worthy winners – and the other authors shortlisted for the awards – are wonderful examples of how a good Christian book can appeal to people of all faiths and none, including those who’ve never picked up Christian literature before,” said Paula Renouf, Director, Speaking Volumes.
