MTV’s VMAs Weren’t Awful This Year

I just finished watching the 2011 VMAs off the DVR. For my faith-market friends, I’m talking about show quality here, not song content or cultural value… I’m not expecting faith-friendly content from an MTV awards show. Why would anyone? Finally, MTV got their act together on the production of this awards show. It has s-u-c-k-e-d for the last several years. Not so this year. The stage set up was truly outstanding. The audio was great. The stage production and lighting for Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Nayer was particularly well done.

Where can we sell CDs? How about 7-Eleven

Welcome to the BIG QUESTION. On one hand, the world is rapidly moving towards digital formats, and at the same time, the outlets for buying CDs are shrinking. The big record stores are all but gone. There are certianly great indie stores out there, but not a ton left. The mass market retailers like Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy have cut way back on inventory. But there is money to be made right now, which means, you can make rent money right now.

Last night, American Idol gave Fox its highest ratings yet in prime time, with a 10.9 rating/16 share according to Nielsen Media Research data, an average of 12 million households tuning into the network, between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. This is a Chutes and Ladders game story…

Make A Difference Tour’s Second Live Webcast Shatters Previous Record With Nearly 742,000 Tuning In To See Third Day, Tobymac, Michael W. Smith and Max Lucado On HearItFirst.com

Shattering its own record set just two weeks earlier, the fall’s largest Christian concert tour— World Vision’s “Make A Difference Tour”—set a new milestone as the largest live webcast of any Christian concert ever reported when it recently streamed live from Wichita Falls, Texas (Oct. 23) to nearly 742,000 people, from 99 different countries – all who tuned in to see GRAMMY® award-winning recording artists TobyMac, Michael W. Smith and Third Day, along with New York Times best-selling author Max Lucado. This new total breaks the previous record of 186,000 set earlier this month by nearly 400 per cent, indicating at least 4 times as many people tuned in to the second live webcast, an unprecedented number for any Christian music concert and one that producers say ranks in the top of all live concert webcasts.
