(Nashville, TN) June 6, 2016—It is with deep sympathy for family and loved ones that HarperCollins Christian Publishing recognizes the passing of longtime employee and friend to all, Joseph “Scott” Harvey. On Friday June 3, 2016, Scott went to be with his Savior after losing a five-month battle to cancer. He was 52 years old.
Scott was a gregarious man, best known by his colleagues for his love of laughter and quick wit. He began his career at Thomas Nelson as a National Accounts manager in May 2000. His creative thinking and exceptional ability to form strategic relationships drove the business decision to launch a custom product development division in 2007 under his leadership. Scott’s enthusiasm for the company’s products and servant heart for the Kingdom paved the path for this sales channel to continue being one of the most robust areas of HarperCollins Christian Publishing.
“Scott is the reason I am with this company today,” said Tom Knight s-v-p of sales for HarperCollins Christian Publishing. “Our friendship surpassed just being colleagues, as did most that ever had the opportunity to work with Scott. In addition to Scott’s larger-than-life personality his business acumen was just as large. He had the ability to make a vision come to fruition, and an infectious personality that proved to make him a great leader.”
Scott is survived by his wife, two grown children and other extended family members. His unwavering faith and focus on God in all things was a true testament to HarperCollins Christian Publishing’s mission and he will be missed.
