Restore My Soul: A Coloring Book Devotional Journey,
Releasing from Tyndale Momentum in April 2016
Carol Stream, Ill. — With adult coloring books sitting at the top of bestseller lists, Tyndale Momentum releases Restore My Soul: A Coloring Book Devotional Journey, a new category within the growing trend of interactive coloring books for adults.
Restore My Soul by Ann-Margret Hovsepian is the first coloring book that connects a person to God and His Word with thought-provoking text tied to the artwork, a unique direction from the current focus of adult coloring books as entertainment, artistic expression, relaxation, and an alternative to “screen time.”
Restore My Soul (ISBN 978-1-4964-1406-9, April 2016, Tyndale Momentum) includes 40 devotions with related coloring pages to reflect on the deeper message. Nancy Clausen, senior director of marketing for Tyndale Momentum, explains that this new category is the perfect melding of two ways to connect with God. “The coloring book trend is so strong because it’s a great way to remove yourself from the many distractions of your day, and do something relaxing and calming,” says Clausen.
“I think people are looking for ways to simplify their lives, and this is a clear and easy way to spend time doing something very satisfying and reflective, without pressure or stress. Restore My Soul takes that undemanding, mindful activity to the next level. The physical act of applying color to paper releases you to focus your thinking and enhances your connection to God.”
What started with Johanna Basford’s unexpected bestseller Secret Garden, published on March 26, 2013, has now grown to an entire category of Adult Coloring Books in Big Box stores and bookstores nationwide. And the trend doesn’t seem to be slowing. “Paint-By-Numbers became popular in the 50s and Knitting became a rage in the 90s,” adds Clausen. “And like those creative pastimes that allow non-artists to tap into their creative sides, adult coloring books could be around for a long time.”
