COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 23, 2015)—Founder of People of the Second Chance and spiritual entrepreneur, Mike Foster, has signed a major book deal with WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group, a division of the Crown Publishing Group at Penguin Random House. Aptly named after Foster’s hugely successful grace-oriented organization, People of the Second Chance is scheduled for release from WaterBrook Press in Fall 2016, in print and digital formats.
In 2001, Foster stirred controversy and gained national attention when he co-founded XXXchurch, whose vision included targeted outreach to those battling sexual addictions. In the wake of XXXchurch’s enormous success, Foster piloted the development of accountability software designed for those struggling with pornography and is now used by more than one million people.
After leaving XXXchurch in 2007, Foster founded People of the Second Chance geared towards empowering people to embrace the transformational power of God’s grace in their lives. Foster also serves as part of the teaching team at one of the largest and fastest growing churches in the nation, Central Christian Church in Las Vegas. In 2013, Foster self-published a 6-step curriculum called Freeway: A Not-So-Perfect Guide to Freedom that sold more than 100,000 copies with more than 500 churches participating last year.
Alex Field, WaterBrook Multnomah vice president and publisher, and Andrew Stoddard, editor, jointly acquired the project. Foster is represented by Esther Fedorkevich at The Fedd Agency.
“We are thrilled to be working with Mike Foster to launch this deeply important message of hope, forgiveness, and second chances, to the world,” said Field. “Mike truly embodies the way of the second chance in how he lives and interacts with others, which is deeply compelling to all who meet him. This is a book and a message that we desperately need in our world today.”
Foster appears regularly on San Diego’s highest rated show, FOX5 Morning Show’s “Faith Segment” where his ability to genuinely communicate faith has connected with its viewers. Foster has also been featured on Good Morning America, 700 Club, NY Times, GQ Magazine and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Stoddard is the editor on this latest project.
