ECPA's Rush To PressOutreach, Inc. Releases Church Resources for ‘The Song’ Movie

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – September 25, 2014. Releasing through City on a Hill Studios and Samuel Goldwyn Films, The Song is a music-driven romantic drama inspired by the Song of Solomon about the pursuit of true love and meaning, arriving in theaters nationwide on September 26. Outreach, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of church communications resources, is partnering with City on a Hill to offer movie-related Bible Study resources for churches that want to help strengthen marriages in their congregations and communities through a candid exploration of real-world issues like intimacy, conflict, restoration and cultivating true commitment.

Although the “half of all marriages end in divorce” stat was recently debunked (The Good News About Marriage), it is still estimated that 31-35 percent of marriages end in divorce. Even churched and unchurched couples who do not divorce still face the very real pressures of temptation and balancing work and home life. The Song Bible study features straightforward Bible teaching through the Song of Solomon from pastor and bestselling author Kyle Idleman, and will help couples of many ages and stages understand God’s plan for love and marriage—including those who are dating, engaged, newlywed, or married for many years. Interested churches, pastors or lay leaders are encouraged to learn more about The Song resources by visiting www.Outreach.com/TheSong.

The Song resources create a tremendous opportunity for churches to strengthen marriages in their own congregations,” said Jamie Stahler, director of marketing and partnerships for Outreach, Inc. “It’s also a chance for them to reach out to couples in their communities who see the movie and want to find out how they can find hope and healing in their own relationships.”

The Song’s honest, raw look at marriage, real-life temptation, and restoration sets it apart from just being just another faith-based film. Duck Dynasty’s Willie and Korie Robertson attended the premiere on September 23 and Willie endorsed the film: “I want to encourage you to grab your spouse and go check out The Song. It is an incredible movie–Korie and I watched it–and we loved it….”

Additional resources for churches are available at Outreach.com, including The Song Church Kit that includes everything needed to launch a sermon series and small groups.
