Grand Rapids, MI—Our Daily Bread Ministries and Discovery House are pleased to announce that two new staff members have joined the publishing team. Ken Petersen assumes the position of vice president and publisher of the USA region, taking over for the retiring Carol Holquist. Joyce Dinkins becomes executive editor of Our Daily Bread and Our Daily Journey, replacing Judith Markham, who is also retiring.
Holquist and Markham are longtime publishing colleagues. When they retire from Our Daily Bread Ministries at the end of October, they will each conclude a lengthy and successful career in Christian publishing.
Holquist has worked in the field for 40 years. She began her career in 1975 at Zondervan Publishing House, where she held several positions and initiated and developed the first-ever author care program in publishing. In 1988 she was key in the founding of Discovery House Publishers. Now in her 28th year, she has held a variety of positions, including associate publisher, publisher, and vice-president of global publishing for Our Daily Bread Ministries.
Markham has served in publishing for over 50 years. She began her career in book publishing at Zondervan Publishing House, where she held a number of editorial positions and had her own imprint, Judith Markham Books. In 1987 she and two partners founded the writing/editing/design service company Blue Water Ink. In 2001 she joined Discovery House Publishers as managing editor, and since 2014 has been executive editor of Our Daily Bread. Through the years, Markham has worked with many well-known authors and has co-authored several books. She is also a founding member of the Academy of Christian Editors.
Our Daily Bread Ministries welcomes Holquist and Markham’s successors, who joined the company mid-September. Holquist, who will oversee the successful transition of roles, says, “This is an exciting time in the history of Our Daily Bread Ministries. Ken Petersen brings an impressive resume to the position of vice president and publisher of Our Daily Bread Ministries. He has served in key positions at both WaterBrook Press and Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. His distinguished 40-plus-year career includes working with well-known authors and publishing a number of bestsellers.
To her role as executive editor of Our Daily Bread and Our Daily Journey, Joyce Dinkins brings 25 years of Christian publishing experience—as editor at both David C. Cook Publishing and NavPress, and managing editor at New Hope Publishers. Her awards include recognition for editorial excellence in 2014 and 2015 by the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association.
