(Studio City, CA) — Actor Joel McHale, star of the NBC comedy series &ldquoCommunity&rdquo and host of the E! Channel&rsquos &ldquoThe Soup&rdquo will be a featured speaker at the 15th annual Biola Media Conference to be held at the CBS Studio Center lot in Studio City, CA on May 1st, 2010. McHale will be joined by a supporting cast of workshop leaders including screenwriter Brian Godawa (To End All Wars), script doctor Bobette Buster and a dozen other media professionals.
The theme of the conference is &ldquoWORLDS COLLIDE,&rdquo and will feature an in-depth look at how technology and the current economic crisis have set the stage for serious career recalibration within the entertainment industry.   As the industry experiences one of the greatest periods of chaos and crisis in its lifetime, the BMC will explore how creativity, authenticity and innovation will become our pathway to productivity. With technology pushing the limits with films like, &ldquoAvatar,&rdquo the BMC will also deliver a hands-on tech workshop that examines producing projects in the 21st century using tools and technologies available within the last 12 months.
&ldquoIn periods of dramatic change, often the worst economic times become catalysts for our greatest ideas,&rdquo notes Peggy Rupple and Kathleen Cooke, co-directors of the BMC. &ldquoLearning how to navigate this period of incredible change will be the focus of this year&rsquos conference. We expect this to be a historic gathering and are assembling voices who feel this moment in time could bring unprecedented opportunities for storytellers.&rdquo
WORLDS COLLIDE follows on the success of last year&rsquos conference in which noted screenwriter Joe Eszterhas gave a dramatic keynote speech and producers Howard Kazanjian (Star Wars), Al Kasha (Towering Inferno), and Ken Wales (Return of Pink Panther) were honored with lifetime achievement awards. Eszterhas said of the conference: "I wasn’t prepared for how inspirational the Biola Media Conference would be to me. I was so moved. I felt such a sense of divine empowerment."
