New Title Receives Endorsement from Dr. Wess Stafford, President Emeritus of Compassion International
(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.)—January 15, 2014— New Hope Publishers is honored to have KnowOrphans, the bold sequel to Orphanology, endorsed by Dr. Wess Stafford, president emeritus of Compassion International and author of Too Small to Ignore and Just a Minute.
KnowOrphans explores three distinct areas of global orphanology. Delving deep into the changes of the transitional movement, the book helps shape realistic and comprehensive expectations for transnational adoptive families.
“Scripture makes it abundantly clear that children are at the very center of God’s heart, and reaching out to the little ones of His kingdom is as profoundly Christian as it gets,” says Stafford. “Every child is designed to be nestled within a family, and it is unacceptable for any child to live as an orphan on this planet. Reaching out to orphans in their affliction (James 1:27) is a mandate for all of us. While not everyone may be in a position to adopt, we should honor those who can and rally around them to lift the burden, financially and emotionally, in support of this kind and loving act.”
KnowOrphans identifies the need for reform and offers the church solutions for remedying the ills and deficiencies surrounding its role in equipping and supporting families. The complexities of how Christians are to respond ethically, compassionately, and comprehensively to the biblical call to care for orphans are also addressed.
“We were thrilled to have David Platt, author of Radical, pen the foreword for Orphanology, and we are equally as excited that Dr. Stafford has endorsed the sequel, KnowOrphans,” said Andrea Mullins, publisher for New Hope. “To have the blessings of such well-respected men of God who share a passion for adoption and orphan care is confirmation of the significance that the resources will have on readers.”
