Largo, FL—Children will again enjoy a time of activities, fun, and learning at Christian retail stores across the country. March 28, 2015 is the annual Kid’s Day, a program developed by the Munce Group and authors of the Christian Authors Network (CAN). The activities will promote learning more about Jesus, helping kids grow in their faith, and developing literacy. Families are encouraged to attend Kid’s Day and shop the retail offerings—all in time for Easter.
“The annual Kid’s Day promotion through Munce Group drives traffic and sales while building relationships with families,” said Kirk Blank, Munce Group President. “Vendor partners have stepped up to supply fantastic prizes, and CAN has gone above and beyond by creating not only a fun day but content that will engage children and point them to Christ. We’re grateful to be a part of bringing this together for the Munce Group member stores.”
Something for Children
Author Diane Stortz again coordinated the material from CAN authors for Kid’s Day. Stortz describe this year’s activities as follows: CAN authors who write for children and parents have created a variety of original activities for children to do while their parents shop, plus helpful parenting articles for stores to distribute.
Katrina Cassel, author of The Christian Girls Guide to Me: The Quiz Book, created three puzzle pages. Marsha Hubler, author of the Keystone Stables juvenile fiction series, provided five different horse-themed activities, including a word scramble, a crossword puzzle, and three coloring pages.
Karen Whiting, CAN treasurer, whose newest book for children is The One Year devotions for Active Boys, provided two Easter-themed devotions that also incorporate a quiz and a puzzle. She also offers instructions for a simple nature puppets craft activity.
Other activities include a word search puzzle from popular children’s author Crystal Bowman, based on her new book Our Daily Bread for Kids: 365 Meaningful Moments with God, coauthored with TeriMcKinley. Ava Pennington, CAN secretary, whose newest book is Daily Reflections on the Names of God, created a word search based on the names of Jesus associated with Easter. Diane Stortz provided three coloring pages based on her new release Words to Dream On: Bedtime Bible Stories and Prayers.
Carol McAdams Moore, CAN public relations director and author of the preteen devotions Dare U 2 Open This Book and Just Sayin’, provided two activity devotions based on those books. Sherry Kyle, author of The Girl’s Guide to Your Dream Room, provided directions for a simple craft based on Hebrews 4:12 and Proverbs 17:22. Jeanette Hanscome, author of Running with Roselle, created an excerpt from the book with challenging, thought provoking questions. And Pam Farrel, author of numerous parenting resources, provided a coloring page for children based on Deuteronomy 4:12.
Something for Parents
Kid’s Day also offers resources for parents:
- An Easter devotional by Ava Pennington
- An informational handout from Crystal Bowman about her latest release
- A tip sheet from Diane Stortz to help parents choose the best Bible storybook for their children
CAN president, Angela Breidenbach remarks, “Children and youth learn that reading is fun, interactive, and valuable in their lives when parents help them experience it hands-on. Consider using these ideas from our Christian Authors Network with your child, in groups, or even creating regular children’s book clubs.”
