Many people dream of being a super hero and our Super God has made a way. From biblical times to right now, people have demonstrated their God-given super-possibilities. The newly announced 2017 Abingdon Press Bible and Arts program—Super God! Super Me! Super-Possibility!—is a great way to help participants know that the super power given us by Jesus Christ is greater than any power—imagined or in existence. It also serves as a powerful Vacation Bible School (VBS) program. Super God! Super Me! Super-Possibility!encourages children, youth, and adults to take a stand for faith, use wisdom, be themselves, learn about people who empower the African American community, choose to love Jesus Christ, and love like God loves.

In the fun-filled Super God! Super Me! Super-Possibility! program participants will:

  • Hear that there is no greater strength than God’s super power within.
  • Imagine their own super-possibilities.
  • Have the opportunity to choose Jesus’ super love.

Super God! Super Me! Super-Possibility! is inspired by the Scripture verse The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4b, CEB). Each of the five sessions includes a Bible lesson, memory verse, a super saying that allows for personal declaration of the lesson theme, a power preparation visual (symbolic extensions of being clothed in the power of God), and a power action that drives home the lesson take-away.

“We want to help everyone, regardless of their age, to discover the awe-inspiring power of God,” said Rev. Marilyn Thornton, Lead Editor for African American Resources. “Super God! Super Me! Super-Possibility! was developed to inspire people, regardless of their age, in the truth that they’ve been blessed with gifts that play an important part in God’s story today .”
