KOORONG, AUSTRALIA’S LEADING CHRISTIAN RETAILER, ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH BIBLE SOCIETY AUSTRALIA
August, 19, 2015. Bible Society Australia, whose core mission is to educate, translate, and distribute biblical materials to audiences, announces the acquisition of Koorong, Australia’s leading Christian retailer.
Richard Grellman, Chairman of Bible Society Australia, believes the Koorong partnership will create an impacting synergy for both organizations in the marketplace, and to the Christian community.
Through this acquisition, the Bible Society will provide additional bible-based services and enhance access to the word of God for a world that continues to seek biblical truth, encouragement and guidance.
CEO of Koorong, Paul Bootes, will continue to lead Koorong operations and said it will be business as usual with all current staff to be retained. “Nearly 40 years ago my father and mother started selling Bibles and Christian books in our garage near Macquarie Park in Sydney,”said Bootes. “Today, thanks to the support of our customers we have 300 dedicated employees, an online store, and 15 stores nationwide.”
In 2009, Koorong acquired Authentic Media in the UK and now also holds a significant interest in BroadStreet Publishing Group in the US. Paul Bootes said, “We are thrilled with this new partnership as it allows us to both share the important materials that mean so much to our fellow Christians and support vital missions around the world. Our growing international publishing business will continue to operate under the ownership of the Bootes family.”
Some of the BroadStreet releases include Kelly Tough by Erin and Jill Kelly, Rock and a Heart Place by Ken Mansfield, Bloodline by John Turnipseed, The Middle School Rules of Charles Tillman as told by Sean Jensen, and The Passion Translation translated by Dr. Brian Simmons.
