Grand Rapids, Mich. (January 27, 2014)—Flight to Heaven (Bethany House; ISBN 9780764207945; ebook ISBN 9781441211767; $14.99) by Captain Dale Black and Ken Gire made the New York Times Best Sellers List, ranking #25 of all E-Book Best Sellers. These rankings reflect sales for the week ending January 18 and are based on sales from thousands of nationwide venues where general books are sold.
At age nineteen, pilot Dale Black miraculously survived an airplane crash that killed the other two pilots on board. Hovering between life and death for three days, he had a breathtaking experience of heaven. Against all odds and with seemingly insurmountable injuries, Captain Black recovered from his wounds and returned to flying airplanes as a professional pilot, airline pilot instructor, and jet flight examiner. For forty years he kept the story to himself at the urging of his grandfather to “live” his experience rather than talk about it. The flight to heaven changed Dale’s life, and now he allows it to be told in hopes of encouraging others with this wondrous experience.
Ken Gire is the award-winning author and coauthor of many books, including Moments with the Savior, Windows of the Soul, The Divine Embrace, and When You Can’t Come Back (with Dave and Jan Dravecky). A full-time writer, he holds a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, has coauthored study guides with Chuck Swindoll, and has studied screenwriting. He lives near Colorado Springs.
