Design and Copy Process for IFP Global Print Ad

To begin our partnership, FrontGate was tasked with creating a new Global Print Ad and HTML Ad for IFP.

Step 1: Information Gathering: Research & Strategy

We thoroughly reviewed IFP’s existing marketing and messaging, including the sample ad they sent. During this step, we discussed the needs and expectations with the client and gathered all the information we needed to make their design dreams come true.

Step 2:  Design Round One of Comps

We looked at market trends, competitors, and our client’s current creative during this step. Next, we created a master plan to achieve the client’s goals and crafted a first round of rough draft comps of visuals and copywriting to present to the client. 

Step 3: Design Round Two: Second Draft Review 

During this step, we created a second round of comps based on key elements the client was drawn to from Round One.  We made variations of options such as the light bulb, the heart, and the globe.  The purpose of this step was to narrow down a visual direction, tagline, and description. (It also often reveals any unstated objectives or expectations.) The refinement process included the following:

Step 4: Final Round of Design Review

For this step, we created a round of comps to take their feedback and the approved direction into the final stage, along with copywriting the call-to-action to submit for final approval.

Step 5: Final Production and Delivery

We completed the print ad design and received final approval from the client. This last step included implementing production, creating high-resolution files, converting the ad into an HTML version for layout, copy, and subject line review, followed by final approval, and delivering them to the media.
