Denver, CO — Author and speaker Becky Harling took the Denver stage last weekend as KLOVE, David C Cook, and Soul2Soul partnered to host the first-ever Mom’s Unleashed: Discover the Power of Prayer in Parenthood. On Saturday, August 23, at Foothills Community Church in Arvada, Harling engaged more than 500 women with a specific challenge: stop comparing yourselves to others and start praising God for how He equips you to be the parent He needs you to be. Moms of all ages from across Colorado and Wyoming were in attendance. Every woman requesting prayer received prayer as is Harling’s trademark at all of her speaking events.

The catalyst behind this one-day event is Harling’s September release, The 30 Day Praise Challenge for Parents. When Harling was diagnosed with cancer fifteen years ago, she and her husband were parenting four children, and her anxiety hit an unprecedented high. Her friend and mentor’s suggestion was life-changing: she asked Harling to be deliberate in her praise of God for twenty minutes every day for one week. Harling’s response was one of disbelief as she felt nothing like praising God for this battle over her life. Her mentor shared that she didn’t need to thank God for the cancer; instead, she could praise God for Who He is above the cancer.

That challenge became the basis of her 2013 book, The 30 Day Praise Challenge. Because of how powerfully that message resonates with Christians, Becky knew another challenge needed to be given to parents with the idea of praising God in the midst of their parenting.

The Goal of Mom’s Unleashed: For 100,000 women and men to take the praise challenge to intentionally praise God for twenty minutes a day for one month. Harling shares, “I learned that praising God isn’t just some glib hallelujah when finances are prospering, your health is flourishing, and your family is thriving. Praising God is an intentional declaration by faith that exalts God above your life circumstances.”

The first 300 registrants received a free copy The 30-Day Praise Challenge for Parents. In to Harling speaking, event activities included a stellar performance by Denver-based dance troop Soul2Sole and music by Keri Denison who co-led the 2014 World Mandate West conference in San Diego, Calif.

Becky Harling speaks and minsters to women globally. Her degree in biblical literature, and her experience as a missionary, women’s ministries director, and breast cancer survivor, are woven into her powerful story of praise. Becky is married with grown children and a growing number of grandchildren.
