Colorado Springs, Colo., January 14, 2016 – David C Cook is announcing the creation of a new Learning Resources Strategic Ministry Unit (SMU). Cook’s recent acquisition of Gospel Light and Standard Publishing resources presented the opportunity to realign the Book and Curriculum SMU’s into this “Learning Resources” Unit, enabling the ministry to sharpen its focus on resourcing the local church on a global scale.
This new Learning Resources Unit will focus on these key areas:
- DCC adult trade book resources, Standard Lesson Commentary, Bible in Life (adult) curriculum
- Adult trade book categories to include:
- Christian Living, Apologetics, Commentary, Small Group and Discipleship Resources
- Adult trade book categories to include:
- Standard Publishing’s HeartShaper and ENCOUNTER as well as Gospel Light’s traditional children’s curriculum
- Tru, Bible in Life, Echoes, and children’s trade book resources featuring:
- The Action Bible family of resources
- DiscipleShaping resources designed for children, youth and families
“As we work toward equipping the local church on a global scale, the realignment of these ministry units enables us to better focus our mission of transforming today’s generations with relevant resources to build up the body of Christ,” said Cris Doornbos, Chief Executive Officer.
The leadership will be comprised of Verne Kenney as Executive Publisher along with:
- Matt Lockhart as Publisher (who will be joining the team in February) of Standard Lesson Commentary, Bible in Life (adult), and DCC (adult) trade book resources
- Lindsay Black as Publisher of Standard Publishing’s HeartShaper and ENCOUNTER as well as Gospel Light
- Catherine DeVries as Publisher of Bible in Life (children), Echoes, The Action Bible and other DCC children’s resources
- Chriscynethia Floyd as Vice President of Sales and Marketing
We have engaged a search firm that is currently seeking someone for the role of Chief Publishing Officer to lead this newly formed Learning Resources Unit.
