(Nashville, TN) June 2, 2016—HarperCollins Christian Publishing announced today the promotion of Daniel Marrs to associate publisher for Thomas Nelson Bibles. Marrs joined the Thomas Nelson team in November 2015 as senior editor for the Bibles team.

Though relatively new to the organization, Marrs’s strong theological background and editorial expertise have become evident while working on multiple initiatives for the company’s largest publishing group.

Marrs holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Theology and Ethics with minors in Church History and Philosophy from Baylor University. In addition, he has a Masters of Arts in Theology with minors in Biblical Studies and Philosophy from Talbot School of Theology, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Education from Shepherd University. His publishing experience prior to Thomas Nelson includes editorial, project management, copy-editing, proofing, and writing. He has been published by academic journals including the International Journal of Systematic Theology and Anglican Theological Review.

As the associate publisher of Thomas Nelson Bibles, Marrs will be tasked with acquiring and developing authors and titles that have a viable place in the Bible group. He will lead the team in ideation of product proposals and have direct oversight over the editorial development of projects.

John Kramp, s-v-p and Bible publisher for HarperCollins Christian Publishing commented, “The combination of biblical knowledge, publishing experience and team building skills that he has portrayed while part of our Bible publishing program has prepared him for this role. We are excited for Daniel to fulfill this critical role within our organization.”

Marrs will be replacing Robert Sanford, incumbent associate publisher, who announced his plans for retirement earlier this year.
