Uhrichsville, OH—Readers across the country are becoming dedicated fans to New York Timesbestselling author Wanda E. Brunstetter’s books, purchasing one million copies alone in each of the past two years. As “Amish Country’s Most Beloved Storyteller” was socializing with her readers during her Fan-filled weekend in Amish-country, Ohio, this past weekend, Barbour Publishing announced that her sales have topped the 8 million mark.
That same weekend Wanda and Barbour were celebrating the news that sales of her August novel, The Healing Quilt, sent this third in her series about an Amish couple teaching quilting lessons in their home to the #1 slot on the ECPA Fiction list and to placement on the Publishers Weekly list as well. Barbour also reports that sales of her September release, Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook, are well on their way to propelling the Yakima, Wash., author to the 9 million mark.
One of the reasons Wanda’s Amish books resonate so well with readers is her relationships with the Plain People via family heritage and Amish friends across the country. These close acquaintances, whom Wanda and her accomplished photographer husband, Richard, visit frequently, enable her to portray the Amish lifestyle accurately, affectionately and with a voice of authority.
During her tour to promote The Healing Quilt, Wanda visited the homes of Amish friends while signing and speaking in Pennsylvania towns as well as in Ohio. Some of her signings were scheduled in conjunction with performances of “Half-Stitched – the Musical.” The play is based on Brunstetter’s 2012 novel, The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club, the first of three in the series about her quilting teachers, which also includes The Tattered Quilt (2013) and The Healing Quilt.
