Palm Bay, FL: “ACFW’s impact on Christian fiction has agents and editors talking,” says respected literary agent Wendy Lawton, of Books & Such Literary Management. “The proposals we’re seeing from ACFW members who apply themselves to learn the craft and the industry are exceptional.”
On September 25-27, 2014, hundreds of veteran Christian fiction authors, aspiring authors, agents, editors, and industry representatives will gather at the Hyatt Regency Downtown at the Arch in St. Louis, MO for ACFW’s national conference, the largest and most comprehensive conference devoted exclusively to Christian fiction. Keynoting the event is prolific best-selling author Lauraine Snelling. Other highlights will include an optional Early Bird session with renowned story consultant Christopher Vogler and an optional Post-Conference session with “The Snowflake Guy,” Randy Ingermanson, on “How to be an Insanely Great Indie Author.”
Workshops and continuing education sessions taught by skilled instructors in the craft of Christian fiction are tailored for writers of every level of experience. Agents and editors from dozens of publishing houses and agencies will be in attendance to meet with conferees in one-on-one appointments. Mentoring and other specialty appointments also help offer conferees a well-rounded opportunity to learn, network, fellowship, exchange ideas, and worship together.
An onsite bookstore will be hosted through a partnership between ACFW and Family Christian Stores at the 2014 conference, and will offer recent titles of conferee authors as well as books on the craft of Christian fiction by conference faculty members.
Capping the 2014 ACFW conference is the annual Awards Gala, featuring the announcements of the Genesis Contest winners for unpublished manuscripts, the Carol Awards for the best Christian fiction published in the previous calendar year, Editor of the Year, Agent of the Year, Mentor of the Year, and other individual awards.
Award-winning author Robin Lee Hatcher will be on hand to receive the 2014 ACFW Lifetime Achievement Award for her diligence and impact on the world of Christian fiction as well as her faithfulness in encouraging other writers.
Deadline for the reduced rate of registration is August 19. For more information, go to acfw.com/conference or contact cd@acfw.com. ACFW—The Voice of Christian Fiction.
