Colorado Springs, CO – David C Cook is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Covington to fill the newly created position of Director of Digital Content. Reporting to Dan Rich, Chief Publishing Officer, and in collaboration with the publishing leadership team, Covington has been challenged to develop and implement an effective digital strategy for David C Cook content.

The addition of Covington to the staff reflects the willingness and determination of the Cook team to evolve in today’s world of digital media. “As books, music and many other forms of content have gone digital, we are taking seriously the expansion of our digital content strategy,” says Rich. “We are thrilled to have Covington on board to help us extend our reach to the church by using emerging digital technologies. His ability to envision the scope of possibilities that technology provides for content publishing and his commitment to improving the industry make him the perfect fit for our team at Cook in these times of change and uncharted territory.”

Covington has been professionally involved with the Christian content industry for sixteen years, first as a bookseller, where he was awarded the Jim Carlson Bookstore Manager of the Year in 2001 as well as serving in the “At-Large” capacity on the CBA Board of Directors.  Since 2006, he has filled the position of Information & Education Director for the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. This experience has positioned him to understand both the challenges and opportunities that the entire Christian content life cycle will be facing in both the near and long term future.

“I am excited about what lies ahead for the industry and for Cook, in particular, in terms of digital content creation and distribution,” explains Covington. “David C Cook is investing in the future of making sure the Church can access the resources it needs to reach the world with the gospel.  I am excited to be playing a small part in that future.”

The ways people read and access content continue to evolve as new digital platforms emerge, with that in mind David C Cook remains dedicated to its goal of serving not only this generation of the Church, but the next, and the next, whether through the printed page or via the four corners of a screen.
