Colorado Springs, COEarlier this month, Outreach magazine announced the twenty resources selected as the 2011 Outreach Resources of the Year, a celebration of the best outreach-oriented books and other media. As a point of distinction, David C Cook continues to produce quality content that serves the needs of the global church. Two of their 2010 releases were named to the prestigious list.

Among the resources acknowledged in the 8th Annual Outreach Resources of the Year (March/April) issue are David C Cook’s On Guard: Defending Your Faith with Reason and Precision by William Lane Craig (Apologetics) and That’s Where God Is by Dan & Ali Morrow (Children’s Outreach).

Of the three books recognized in the Apologetics category, William Lane Craig is the author or editor of two of the releases, including On Guard. “Craig has given all Christians a resource, a tool, no, a powerful sword that enables us to defend the faith informed and with grace. On Guard is a tremendous apologetic for the Church,” states Don Pape, David C Cook’s publisher for trade books and study resources.

A highly accessible, visual, and concise book loaded with helpful figures and interesting sidebars, On Guard is a comprehensive guidebook to learning how to defend your faith. Combining the four core arguments for God’s existence with a case for the historicity of Jesus, this readable book also addresses difficult issues such as the problems of suffering and religious relativism.

“We’re gratified that small groups and individuals have found On Guard to be useful as a one-stop training manual in the defense of the Gospel. May God greatly use it to equip His people to share their faith more intelligently and persuasively!” says author William Lane Craig.

In the Children’s Outreach category, Dan and Ali Morrow were recognized for their book That’s Where God Is. “We are so honored that our book has been selected by Outreach for this award. There are few things as important as bringing up a child in the Lord, and even fewer things as rewarding,” the authors explain. “It’s our prayer that this book would be a helpful tool for parents as they strive to pass their faith on to the next generation.”

The life of a pre-school child is one filled with wonder and a thousand questions! Sometimes those questions turn toward spiritual ideas, and it can be a real challenge to supply satisfying answers to their many and often profound questions. The Morrows answer the question “Where is God?” in the delightful and beautiful book entitled That’s Where God Is. Using the foundational relationship between a child and their grandparent, the Morrows explore the many ways God can be discovered within the events of each day of the week.

“It has been a delight to see the heart of parents Dan and Ali Morrow who so desire that their daughters and then, in turn, other children discover the heart of God. It’s a privilege to partner with them on this mission,” says Pape.

The Outreach Resources of the Year recognizes the best books, DVDs, and curricula produced to help the church and Christians reach out in areas such as evangelism, compassionate service, and cross-cultural ministries. Outreach editors narrowed the field to 103 nominees, which were then evaluated by an expert for each of the twelve categories. For a complete list of winners, visit OutreachMagazine.com.
