Colorado Springs, COAfter two months and fourteen cities, Family Ministry Conversations completes the 2010 tour with more events scheduled for three major U.S. cities in 2011. For the last few months, Family Ministry Conversations powered by David C Cook has been engaged in an exciting series of conversations about family and children’s ministries in churches across the United States and Canada. From Boca Raton, Florida, to St. Louis, Missouri, and Costa Mesa, California, Family Ministry Conversations is inspiring and equipping family ministry leaders for the challenges they face today.

Featuring a dynamic team of ministry workers from across the country, each event presents a full day of intensive conversations to revolutionize family ministry. Together, ministry leaders, volunteers, and staff members from groups of 50 to 200 have been exploring the changing paradigms of children’s and family ministry and redefining what it means to be family sensitive, family friendly, family centered, and family empowered ministries. Family Ministry Conversations continues to offer amazing times of seeing God move in the lives of His people across this country,” says Matt Barnes, Family Ministry Conversations facilitator and director of teaching and creative programming at ROCKHARBOR Church in Costa Mesa, CA. “Much of our conversation has centered around the understanding that the job of creating a transforming faith in the lives of our families and children is the Holy Spirit’s and not ours. It has been incredible to see ministry leaders and volunteers answering God’s call to equip parents to be the primary nurturers of their children’s faith.”

Family Ministry Conversations embodies David C Cook’s commitment to equip and empower churches and families with the training and resources that will empower families to grow together. “Our core mission at David C Cook for over 130 years has been to support the church with resources to raise up spiritually healthy children and families,” says Mike Kennedy, David C Cook’s senior director of marketing. “Through Family Ministry Conversations, we aim to provide churches with the tools they need to support families in making their homes places of spiritual formation and development. This is not just the next trend; it is a movement that will spiritually transform an entire generation.”

The tour was inspired by the recent release of Rio and Tru, ground-breaking Sunday school curriculum developed in partnership with a national network of family and children’s ministry leaders. From city to city, the events have presented an unprecedented opportunity for children’s pastors and their teams to engage in dialogue with other ministry workers in the community on current issues. Family Ministry Conversations gets at the heart of what children’s and family ministry today is about, upending pre-conceived practices and equipping ministry leaders to effectively cultivate spiritual formation, biblical knowledge, and authentic growth.

Family Ministry Conversations kicked off in Denver on October 13, followed by stops in Atlanta, GA, Montgomery, AL, Raleigh, NC, Boca Raton, FL, Costa Mesa, CA, Toronto, CA, St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, KS, Indianapolis, IN, Cincinnati, OH, Dallas, TX, Twin Cities, MN, and Portland, OR. The tour continues in 2011 with events in Seattle, WA, Phoenix, AZ, and Milwaukee, WI. For more information, visit www.DavidCCook.com/family.
