ChristianTrade Association International +1 (719) 432-8428 E-mail: kpettit@ChristianTrade.com “Singapore is one of the world’s most important commercial hubs,” says Jim Powell, president of ChristianTrade Association International. “Last time a Marketsquare Asia event was held in Singapore, 400 people attended—our largest event ever in Asia!” ChristianTrade will hold its 2010 Marketsquare Asia trade show Sept. 10-11 at the Fort Canning YMCA in Singapore after several years in Hong Kong. “With this change in location,” says Kim Pettit, ChristianTrade chief executive officer, “we expect to draw buyers from Singapore, of course, but also from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, China, and the Philippines.” "The Christian trade in Asia has such potential for growth,” adds Powell. "Our goal is to serve the industry that serves the Church. This is the perfect opportunity for buyers from the countries surrounding Singapore who cannot afford to travel to America or Frankfurt." The largest Christian trade gathering in Asia, Marketsquare Asia 2010 in Singapore will feature an exhibit floor as well as workshops. Christian booksellers are also encouraged to attend the Professional Bookseller Institute September 9, the day before the trade show. Jack Scott, ChristianTrade training and member-development director, will give retailers a firm foundation in finances, inventory management, marketing, staffing, customer service, and more. “Marketsquare Asia 2010 also includes Beijing and Korea,” adds Pettit. “ChristianTrade Korea works with ChristianTrade every year to hold the Korea Christian Rights Fair in Seoul. Make plans to come to Korea—the world’s largest rights market for Christian publishers—on 6-7 September. Preceding both these events is a visit to Beijing 2-3 September, at the conclusion of the Beijing International Book Fair.” The Beijing and Seoul gatherings will focus on translation rights. The largest attendance is expected in Singapore, where the focus will include not only international translation rights negotiations, but also sales of Christian product in English and in other languages. Marketsquare Asia will be held September 2-11. ChristianTrade will be active in Beijing on Thursday and Friday, 2 & 3 September; in Seoul on Monday and Tuesday 6 & 7; and in Singapore on Friday and Saturday 10 & 11.
