Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX—This week the Christy Advisory Board announced nominees in nine categories for the 2010 Christy Awards. Publisher David C Cook received nominations in two categories from the award dedicated to recognizing excellence in Christian fiction by contemporary authors. The Christy Awards will be conferred in advance of the International Christian Retail Show at a ceremony at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 7:30 p.m.
Every year, the Christy Award invites publishers to submit novels written from a Christian worldview and copyrighted in the year preceding the awards. Each novel is entered in one of several genre categories and/or the first novel category. The novels are then read and evaluated against a ten-point criteria by a panel of seven judges composed of librarians, reviewers, academicians, literary critics, and other qualified readers, none of whom have a direct affiliation with a publishing company.

Scared by Tom Davis (nominated in the First Novel category) is a sweeping, international saga that explores many of today’s vital social issues such as poverty, war, disease, and AIDS. This first offering in Mason’s series for 9 to 12 year olds is a superbly written children’s story with deep spiritual resonance.
