On Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 7:30pm ET (tape delay for PT), the eve of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, the non-profit organization Blessed Earth will host a live, FREE, simulcast event, Hope for Creation: A Live Simulcast Event out of Northland Church in Orlando,Florida with Pastor Joel Hunter and Dr. Matthew and Nancy Sleeth.
Thousands of churches, religious leaders and people of various denominations will participate in this one-time event that will include live musical performances, interactive audience participation and biblical guidance on caring for creation. Also featured will be clips from the Hope for Creation video series (Zondervan) and talking points featured in The Gospel According to the Earth: Why the Good Book is a Green Book (HarperOne).
Dr. Sleeth resigned from his position as chief of the medical staff and director of the ER and Nancy Sleeth left her job as communications director for a Fortune 500 company to write, teach and guide others on the topic of faith and caring for the environment. Dr. Sleeth is a graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine and has two post-doctoral fellowships.
Blessed Earth is an educational nonprofit that inspires and equips faith communities to become better stewards of the earth. Through outreach to churches,campuses and media, they build bridges that promote measurable environmental change and meaningful spiritual growth.
