Lake Mary, Florida—The Evangelical Christian Publishing Association (ECPA) has cited Strang Book Group as the leading Pentecostal and Charismatic book publisher in a report on the state of Spirit-filled publishing and its growth.
The article in the May 2010 issue of Christian Retailing, the trade journal for the Christian products industry, marked ECPA sales data for 2009 that saw Strang Book Group lead the category with more than 22 percent of the market.
Tessie DeVore, Book Group Executive Vice President, said, “In today’s marketplace, books written by Spirit-led authors are consistently at the top of both the Christian retail channel and general market best-sellers lists.” She added that such books as Prayers That Rout Demons by John Eckhardt and Bait of Satan by John Bevere “are a reflection that these books are reaching a broad audience that embraces core Spirit-filled beliefs.”
For more than three decades, Strang Book Group has published books with an emphasis on the Spirit-filled life, including the New York Times best-sellers 23 Minutes in Hell by Bill Wiese and Fasting by Jentezen Franklin, and the runaway international best seller, Heaven Is So Real! by Choo Thomas.
Strang Book Group has also published numerous best-selling books written by Spirit-filled authors including Jerusalem Countdown by John Hagee, which sold a million copies and The Faith of George W. Bush by Stephen Mansfield. Siloam, Strang Book Group’s health imprint has been recognized as the leading Christian health and wellness imprint in the industry and is the publisher of several best-selling titles by Don Colbert, MD.
“The mainstream appeal of books written for the Spirit-filled community or by its authors is not an anomaly,” said DeVore. “The Charismatic/Pentecostal movement is the fastest-growing segment of the church and according to a recent study by the Barna Research Group represents 25 percent of the population that describes themselves as Christian, and this is just a reflection.”
