Nashville, Tenn., December 12th, 2013– Publishing executives from around the globe gathered Tuesday evening at Barnes & Noble’s annual awards ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City. Betty Woodmancy, Worthy’s Sr. Vice President of Sales, was recognized as the outstanding sales representative to Barnes & Noble from small and university presses.
Barnes & Noble is a leading retailer of books and digital media, operating nearly 700 bookstores. After only two years in commerce, Worthy Publishing is proud to see their executive being highlighted on this national stage. Byron Williamson, CEO and President of Worthy Publishing, stated, “No one is more deserving of this award than Betty. She is a major player in our industry, and we are thrilled to have her on our team.”
In her 20 years in publishing, Woodmancy has been directly involved in the creation of numerous New York Times and CBA bestsellers by John Hagee, Bill Cosby, Dave Ramsey, William Bennett, John C. Maxwell, Max Lucado, Beth Moore, Emerson Eggerichs, Sarah Young and others. She began her career as the book buyer for Walmart and then Sam’s Club, later transitioning to publishing—first as the director of mass market sales for Thomas Nelson, and then as a director of sales and merchandising with Ingram Book Company, where she established their wholesale club business. She spent five years as VP of Sales at Integrity Publishers and served at Howard/Simon & Schuster as VP/Associate Publisher before moving to Worthy.
