COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., (November 18, 2013)Kay Wills Wyma, author of Cleaning House: A Mom’s 12-Month Experiment to Rid Her Home of Youth Entitlement, (WaterBrook Press, May 8, 2012) has struck a chord with parents and garnered the attention of national media. Wyma is scheduled to appear Nov. 20 on “The 700 Club” to discuss how as a mother of teens and tweens she ran an experiment to make her kids more responsible and responsive to others.

Also, due to its popularity among listeners, Wyma’s radio interview on Cleaning House with “Focus on the Family” has been chosen to be included in the program’s “Best of 2013” broadcast series and will air again on Nov. 26 and 27

Wyma’s book chronicles her decision as a former White House employee and recovering enabling mother to run a one-year experiment to empower her five children in basic tasks of independence.  This relevant topic for today’s parents has made Wyma a popular guest on national broadcast outlets including,  “Today,” “Marie,” “The Glenn Beck Show,” “CNN HLN Evening Express,” “Fox & Friends,” “The Better Show,” “Focus on the Family,” “Family Talk,” “FamilyLife Today” and “Today’s Issue.”

“The continuing response to Cleaning House shows that parents are hungry for a new approach to raising responsible, confident kids,” stated WaterBrook Multnomah Editorial Director Laura Barker. “Kay Wyma’s fresh perspective on the issue of youth entitlement challenges all of us to rethink our expectations when it comes to what we ask of our children. We’re delighted that the practical ideas Kay offers have resonated with so many readers whose households have been transformed by this realization that our kids need us to believe in their ability to work and to succeed without parents hovering over every decision.”

WaterBrook Multnomah President and Publisher Stephen W. Cobb stated, “We’re proud of the impact Cleaning House is making with parents and children in our nation and are privileged to have author Kay Wills Wyma as part of our publishing family.”

Kay Wills Wyma has five kids, ages five to 15, and one SUV with a lot of carpool miles.
