Nashville, TN – Bestselling author and pastor Max Lucado is partnering with his long-time publisher Thomas Nelson as well as The Salvation Army and CBA, the Association for Christian Retail, to reach one million broken hearts with the message of his upcoming book You’ll Get Through This: Hope and Help for Your Turbulent Times (September 10, 2013). Through the innovative “Give Hope Where It Counts” campaign, Christian retailers can offer consumers the opportunity to purchase a special Salvation Army edition of You’ll Get Through This, which will be distributed to those in need of the message most.

Thomas Nelson is producing the mass-market paperback edition of You’ll Get Through This exclusively for The Salvation Army to provide to individuals in crisis. The $5 special edition will include an introductory letter plus a 16-page insert featuring stories of people who have made it through difficult times with the help of The Salvation Army.

“It seems these days hope is in short supply,” says Max Lucado. “But with every helping hand and warm meal, The Salvation Army provides a tangible expression of God’s love.” His long-time publisher David Moberg, SVP, Publisher Thomas Nelson agrees: “Max has written a special message of hope and healing. We knew we wanted to create a ministry movement to help one million broken hearts find hope. The Salvation Army and CBA are powerful partners to reach that goal.”

“Christian retailers are on the front lines, seeing how their customers want to minister to others in need,” says Curtis Riskey, CBA president. “We value the work that The Salvation Army does as a Christian first-responder and we want to support their hands-on ground-level work with those in need.”

“It is the mission of The Salvation Army to meet both physical and spiritual needs every day in Jesus name,” says Commissioner Barry C. Swanson, a Salvation Army officer. “ We believe that by partnering with Thomas Nelson, CBA and Max Lucado we can raise awareness, and, more importantly, raise hope in the salvation and comfort that only God gives.”

Max Lucado will also extend the reach of this message as the featured speaker for a Salvation Army event on September 11, 2013. Billed as You’ll Get Through This: A Night of Hope and Remembrance, the event will be held at the Centennial Memorial Temple in New York City. Invitations will be offered to selected individuals directly affected by the 9/11 attacks, Hurricane Sandy and other tragedies.

This live event is expected to have more than 1500 attendees and will feature a performance by the Salvation Army Greater New York Youth Band and Chorus. With the help of in:cast events, this special night will be simulcast to local churches and small groups throughout the U.S. and via The Salvation Army network to its many corps. Information on how to host this simulcast or find a host church near you is available at www.incastevents.com.
