NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Adults will rediscover the memorable artwork from their own childhoods in the upcoming Holman Classic Children’s Bibles. Available in the both KJV and HCSB translations, the Bibles feature artwork commissioned for LifeWay’s preschool and children’s Sunday School curriculum.
The illustrations span over six decades, the earliest being that of artist Ralph Pallen Coleman and his 1944 depiction of Saul’s conversion. Spanning several generations of parents and grandparents, many of whom will recall seeing these reproductions adorning the walls of their Sunday school classes, the art will no doubt evoke their own sentiments of favorite Bible stories and lessons that can now be shared with their children.
A total of forty illustrations appear in the Holman Classic Children’s Bibles. Twenty illustrations from the Old Testament include favorites from Adam and Eve, to Noah and the animals, to David and Goliath, and Daniel in the lion’s den. New Testament illustrations range from Jesus walking on water, to the loaves and fishes, to the triumphal entry.
Also releasing in February, new designs for the HCSB Illustrated Study Bible for Kids come in eye-catching shades of blue and pink. For older children who want their own Bible to read and carry, the pink edition features an appealing fairy tale castle design while the blue edition features a stamping depicting a vintage sailing vessel and compass design.
