Phoenix, AZ – In a record-breaking year of submissions for the ECPA | dp Book Cover Award program, ECPA has just announced 10 finalists for the industry’s DESIGN award and nine finalists for the CONSUMER RESEARCH award.

The ECPA Book Cover DESIGN Award, managed by Faceout Studio, was introduced this year and focuses on the design merits of a cover including the level of conceptual thinking, the quality of the execution, and the appropriateness for the market. Three finalists are announced in three publisher categories, with a tie in the small publisher category.

The program’s CONSUMER RESEARCH Award is managed by RISC|Ameriscan and based on consumer-buying research of the Research Institute for Social Change (RISC) which measures consumer motivations as it relates to cover design and book sales. Book covers are judged and analyzed by how well their design elements match characteristics of their intended audience.

ECPA, in partnership with Dickinson Press, began the ECPA | dp Book Cover Award program in 2007 to educate, promote and recognize superior cover design in the Christian publishing industry. In 2012, the program created two distinct awards, one for design and one that continues the focus on research-based marketability.
