Hunt Valley, MD – The American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) partnered with The Sheridan Group to develop an eCommerce solution that would allow them to sell both electronic and print books directly to consumers in time for their annual conference, CHEST.
By utilizing Sheridan’s Electronic Content Services’ Sheridan Connect platform, Sheridan created a custom branded eCommerce site for ACCP that offers consumers multiple purchasing options: PDF eBook, a softcover book, and a bundled option to include both. Conversion of files to PDF eBook format along with print and fulfillment of the digital print-on-demand softcover book will be handled by Sheridan.
The ACCP annual CHEST meeting is recognized as the world’s largest clinical chest medicine event, providing attendees with the latest research and essential updates on patient care and practice management strategies. Marie Ketner, Technology Manager for Sheridan Books, Inc. commented: “As ACCP is a print customer of Sheridan, we understood the importance of this event. In less than three weeks we built and launched an eCommerce site allowing them to feature their new publication, Coding for Chest Medicine 2013, available for presale in both electronic and print versions at the conference.” Once the title is released, orders taken at the conference will be fulfilled by Sheridan as a digital download and/or shipped directly to the purchaser.
Nikki Augustyn, Director of Publications for ACCP, further noted “ACCP’s Coding for Chest Medicine 2013 is a staple for physicians and billing specialists in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. With many of our other products transitioning to an electronic format, we decided to survey past users of the coding book, historically a print reference book, to learn more about how they consume this content and their future needs. Results showed that we needed to cater to a variety of different needs, and Sheridan’s Electronic Content Services allows us to do just that, putting the choice in the hands of our audience. Users can choose to order a print book, an electronic version, or both, while we at the ACCP will gain further insight into the ever-evolving needs and preferences of our members.”
