NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 27, 2012 — During its annual awards dinner at the Renaissance Hotel, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Worthy Publishing as the entrepreneurial start-up of the year in media and entertainment. Worthy publishes inspirational books in a variety of categories including fiction, current events, biography and spiritual growth.
To encourage entrepreneurship in metro Nashville, the Chamber identifies hundreds of new and growing companies from its 1.5 million metro population and subsequently selects a panel of qualified judges to evaluate finalists prior to the annual awards ceremony. This year’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award was presented to Wayne Smith, founder and CEO of Community Health Systems, one of the largest hospital networks in America.
Upon acceptance of his company’s NEXT award, Byron Williamson, President and CEO of Worthy Publishing, stated, “We’re honored that Worthy’s first year in commerce has been so well received by major media. Despite being a new house, our books have earned tremendous press coverage.”
Books by BeBe Winans and Michael Vick were front-page features in USA Today during a recent ten-day period. Other national print coverage includes Time magazine, Huffington Post, Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated, Essence, USA Today, Atlanta Constitution-Journal, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and Publishers Weekly. Worthy authors have also been regular guests on major television programs such as the Today Show, O’Reilly Factor, Piers Morgan Tonight, CBS This Morning, Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, FOX & Friends, and Huckabee, with more features slated for the end of 2012 and on into 2013.
In the past month John Hagee’s new title with Worthy, The Power of the Prophetic Blessing, debuted at #2 on the Publisher’s Weekly list and at #5 on the Wall Street Journal’s nonfiction list. A featured fall release under the Worthy banner is The God Box by Mary Lou Quinlan, which has already received wide acclaim and reached the New York Times bestseller list. Titles from renowned authors including Dr. David Jeremiah, Franklin Graham, Charles Swindoll, and Jerry Jenkins are set to be released by Worthy in the upcoming year.
