NASHVILLE, Tenn., 9/07/2012 – B&H Publishing Group has just released Paige Patterson’s much-anticipated Revelation volume in The New American Commentary (NAC) series. Greatly esteemed by pastors and Bible students, the biblical and theological expository series began in 1991 and will be complete upon the publication of four future volumes (two on Psalms, one on 1 Corinthians, and one on Ephesians).

Patterson is president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas, and knew that working on Revelation would be a defining task.

NAC general editor E. Ray Clendenen explained that, “producing a commentary of the depth called for in this series requires thousands of hours of intensive labor in research, reading, reflecting, writing, and rewriting. Authors must carefully analyze their assigned biblical book in Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek, do hundreds of word studies, chart and diagram the text, and make one to two thousand footnotes.”

Russell D. Moore, dean of The Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, said, “Paige Patterson, one of the most titanic figures in evangelical thought, approaches the Apocalypse of Patmos with wit, wonder, and insight . . . Read this commentary to grapple with the text, yes, but read it also so you can catch something of Patterson’s awe and wonder before the slain-but-standing Lamb.”

Thom S. Rainer, president of LifeWay Christian Resources, said, “Dr. Patterson approached this assignment with his well-known theological prowess and respect for God’s holy Word. His treatment of Revelation is thorough and enlightening. I’m confident scholars for years to come will be blessed by this commentary.”

While printed copies of Revelation were made widely available beginning September 1, access to the digital text will be offered exclusively through MyStudyBible.com and WORDsearch during its first month of release.
