(Nashville, TN) – For the past year, Thomas Nelson, Inc. has engaged with God’s Word to aid children worldwide. Through the “God’s Word in Action” program a portion of profits from Thomas Nelson Bible sales is given to World Vision to help end poverty and preventable deaths among children. This year, in honor of the “God’s Word in Action’s” efforts, the Premier Foundation and the Association of Christian Retail (CBA) will honor Thomas Nelson as the Christian vendor recipient for the 2012 Champions of Faith Award.

At the second annual Champions of Faith Awards and Benefit Concert taking place on July 14, 2012, the “unique event honors businesses, organizations, entertainers, individuals and Christian retailers and vendors who are ‘Champions’ of the Christian faith, and live their lives dedicated to the principles taught by Jesus Christ,” according to the website ( www.championsofthefaith.com). Grounded by the Biblical passage found in Colossians 1:10, these awards are meant to inspire those who attend the benefit concert, “to live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way,” just as the honorees have done.

In “God’s Word in Action’s” first year, Thomas Nelson contributed more than $112,000 to World Vision’s effort through a guaranteed minimum contribution of $75,000 plus additional support based on revenues through Bible sales. World Vision increased this contribution, through matching funds, into more than $500,000. The result was aid provided to more than 24,000 children. Just recently announced, Thomas Nelson renewed the program with a dedication to give a minimum of $100,000 by April 2013.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Christian industry in such a way,” said Gary Davidson, sr. vice president and Bible group publisher. “The impact the God’s Word in Action program has made and the continued support of World Vision is truly a blessing for us to be a part of.” Davidson will be accepting the award on behalf of Thomas Nelson at the banquet.

This is the first time that Thomas Nelson has received this honor.
