NASHVILLE, Tenn. – June 13, 2012 – Worthy Publishing announces it has signed Franklin Graham to a publishing deal with The Sower: Finding Yourself in the Parables of Jesus to be published in October of 2012. Graham is president of the worldwide relief organization Samaritan’s Purse which invests more than $300 million each year in urgent need relief projects.

“Inspired by his father’s example, Graham speaks to work he and his father have undertaken to spread the Gospel through an examination of one of Jesus’ parables,” said Byron Williamson, president of Worthy Publishing. “The Sower is the favorite parable of the Graham family and is so profoundly representative of Franklin’s ministry.”

Frequently covered by FOXNews, Graham tirelessly travels the world preaching and providing humanitarian aid. In fact, Graham embodies the parable of the sower quite literally. He passionately works to meet the needs of poor, sick and suffering people in more than 100 countries through his ministry, Samaritan’s Purse.

Whether abroad in countries like Sudan, or here at home in tornado-ravaged cities like Joplin, Missouri, Franklin Graham has made a mission of sowing the Seed along with necessities for the needy. The legacy of providing aid in far-flung and dangerous locales was actually began by Graham’s grandfather, Lemuel Bell, who was a medical missionary in China for 20 years.

Graham recently decided to depict his father’s ministry in some visual way at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina. He immediately thought of the Parable of the Sower as a perfect image. He commissioned an eight-foot bronze sculpture unveiled April 19, 2012 that represents every Christian who is carrying the seed of the Gospel to their family, community, and the whole world. It is this purpose that inspires Graham’s new book.
