Nashville, TN – Thomas Nelson, Inc. announced today an agreement with best-selling author Eric Metaxas to publish Seven Men, a collection of short portraits of widely known—but not well understood—Christian men.  The projected release date is set for April 17, 2013.    

Metaxas teamed with Thomas Nelson in 2010 on Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, a book that has spent dozens of weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, accumulated myriad awards and has, to date, sold nearly half a million copies.    

In Seven Men, the Wilberforce and Bonhoeffer biographer will present several exquisitely crafted portraits examining what it takes to be a true exemplar as a father, brother, husband, leader, coach, counselor, change agent, or wise man and answering the question of what it means to be a man of faith today - to stand for honesty, courage, charity, hope, patience, faith, and justice at a time when the culture and the world run counter to those values.  

Whether it’s Dietrich Bonhoeffer and hope, Jackie Robinson and courage, or Abraham Lincoln and justice, each of the seven men profiled will call the reader to a more elevated walk and lifestyle, one that embodies the Gospel.

Eric Metaxas is the author of the New York Times #1 bestseller, Bonhoeffer:  Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, which was named “Book of the Year” by the ECPA.   Bonhoeffer also won the 2011 John C. Pollock Award for Biography awarded by Beeson Divinity School and a 2011 Christopher Award in the Non-fiction category.  Called a “biography of uncommon power,” Bonhoeffer appeared on numerous 2010 “Best of the Year” lists and was featured in the Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, The New Republic, Harper’s, Kirkus (starred review), NPR, FoxNews, C-SPAN’s Book TV, Christianity Today, The Weekly Standard, and First Things.
