CAROL STREAM, ILL.—Tyndale House Publishers will release the 20th anniversary edition of the bestselling A Voice in the Wind in October. This anniversary volume of the first book in Francine Rivers’s treasured Mark of the Lion series features a foreword from the publisher, a letter from and an interview with Ms. Rivers, a color map, an illustrated glossary, and discussion questions suitable for group and personal use.

A Voice in the Wind takes readers on a journey to the first century and introduces them to a character they will never forget—Hadassah. Torn by her love for a handsome aristocrat, this young slave girl clings to her faith in the living God for deliverance from the forces of decadent Rome. With her hallmark touches of brilliant prose and gripping characterizations, Francine Rivers has penned a rich, moving epic about faith and dreams, heartache and disappointment, and has developed an inspiring character in Hadassah, who stands out as a lesson of honor, self-worth, loyalty, love, and sacrifice.

Francine Rivers often begins a story concept with a question. In writing A Voice in the Wind, Ms. Rivers answers the question “How do you live out your faith among family members and friends who are not at all interested in the gospel?” Rivers concluded, through the development of this book’s main character, that “It’s not what you say, it’s how you live that has the impact.” Using Hadassah’s example, Ms. Rivers remarks that every Christian has the ability to function as a light in the darkness. “Anyone who lives their life entirely to please God will be a light to others, and that light will shine so that those in darkness will see and be drawn to the hope and eternal love Christ offers.”
